Vonda White has been in prison since 1979 after being convicted of 1^st degree murder. She was ordered by her abusive husband/cult leader to kill a rival. She did so for fear of her life and the lives of her children if she did not comply with her husband's orders.

Vonda was 7 months pregnant when she committed the crime. She and her children had experienced physical and emotional abuse for 11 years from her husband and other cult leaders.

Vonda has been write-up free for the nearly 30 years she has been in prison. She is 69 years old and has served as a peer helper for the mental health department for many years, where she has facilitated dozens of self-help groups and shares her artistic talents. She also has served in leadership positions in Convicted Women Against Abuse, the Long-Termers' Organization, and Toastmasters

Ms. White is a 69-year-old woman whose crime is directly related to surviving severe partner abuse over a period of 11 years.

Ms. White has served 30 years for a crime for which the parole board has determined she should have served just six years. Ms. White consistently has expressed remorse for the death of the crime victim and takes full responsibility for taking his life. During her time in prison, Ms. White has engaged in self-reflection and personal growth through all available programs and her own self-directed process. Over time, she has developed greater understanding of the factors that contributed to her actions. She has used her decades of incarceration in giving remarkable service to her peers. In particular, she has spent many years doing healing work in the Support Care Unit, among people with psychological disabilities. Few are able to demonstrate their remorse or attempt to make amends as completely as Ms. White has done. Given Ms. White’s achievements, her excellent disciplinary record while in prison, and her advanced age, Ms. White clearly poses no danger to society upon release. Please release this woman who is deserving of parole. Allow her to take her place in society among her children and grandchildren for her remaining years.
