Governor denies martina olea parole!

On September 18, 2008, the Governor publicly released his decision to reverse parole for Martina Olea -- despite the fact that the parole board had found her suitable for parole for the fourth time.

Martina has served nearly 22 years on a 15-to-life sentence for the death of her daughter. Martina has worked hard to transform herself while in prison. She has learned English and participated in therapy, parenting classes, and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Free Battered Women grieves with Martina, her family, and her attorneys over the Governor's latest reversal, and remains committed to fighting to secure her release. Martina will be deported to Mexico when she is paroled. She has a loving family who are eager to welcome her home.
