Deborah Peagler is a battered woman who has been in prison for 26 years on a 25-to-life sentence relating to the death of her abusive partner (for more details about the miscarriage of justice in Deborah's case, visit www.freedebbie.org).

In February 2009, Deborah was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Although she only has months or days to live, she remains in prison.

Deborah was found suitable for parole by the Board of Parole Hearings on July 10th, 2009. Once someone is granted parole by the parole board, it normally takes five months before someone would be released. Because of Deborah's diagnosis, her supporters are pushing for an expedited review of her case.

Debbie is a battered woman who was diagnosed in February 2009 with Stage IV lung cancer. According to medical reports, she has only days or months left to live. Debbie already has served 26 years of a 25-to-life sentence despite the fact that in 2005, the Los Angeles District Attorney acknowledged in writing that she should be released from prison with credit for time served "in the interests of justice." Deborah Peagler poses absolutely no risk to public safety and should be released immediately to spend her remaining days with her family and other loved ones. Please do not let this battered woman die in prison.
